West Yellowstone Biathlon

On Wednesday, 11/27, Sixty-one biathletes in twelve classes took to the snow in West Yellowstone Montana. BBNT Biathlon had five racers competing: Claire Otanicar, Finn Blasch, James Hill, Shantel Eilenfield and Teagan Eilenfield.

Shantel and Teagan both earned a P1 in their classes.  Both Finn and Shantel shot 90% and Teagan shot a perfect score of 100%.  Great job Team!  I am proud of all of you!

This race at West typically marks the beginning of the biathlon season here in the IMD.  The conditions were biathlon perfect with 15F at start time, partly cloudy skies, almost no wind and thin layer of fresh snow.  The groomers did their usual best and the wax call from Randy Anderson our Toko rep was spot on. HP LP Blue over HP Blue hot wax and a single pass with blue structurite tool between made for fast skis.  All our ammo worked well with the team shooting both Norma Match and Lapua Polar.

A special thanks to our hosts Marc and SJ Sheppard owners of Altius Handcrafted Firearms and operators of the range.  We are also ever thankful for the efforts of the volunteer corps, without whom there is no race.  Lastly on this Thanksgiving week we are grateful for the support of team M&D.  Thanks for letting me be a part of this adventure!
